Tamco Transmitter Charge Plug Size
« on: April 19, 2015, 09:57:04 am »

I have recently bought a Tamco 3-Channel stick Transmitter with eight dry cell batteries which seems fine.I wish to convert it to Ni-Mh re-chargeables.Would anyone know the charge plug size on the side of the TX and whether it is centre pin positive, before I go to Maplins...Many thanks.Lakeside Bob.

Why not take the transmitter with you to Maplin.

Can you not just buzz from the socket to the battery terminals?

The ones in Maplins usually live inside packaging, so cannot be tried for size there.  I normally use one of the legs of the spider on the end of a battery eliminator, since that is what I modified by connecting a resistor in the lead to become my transmitter battery charger.  I have yet to come across a transmitter where the center pin was anything but positive.

Spektrum Charge Sockets are Negative Centre pin.
Most Transmitters have an engraving or suchlike
near to the socket showing the polarity.
2.1 mm seems to be the most common size, though
there may be the odd one at 2.5mm

Many thanks for your help shipmates. The problem is gauging/micing the centre pin size properly on the TX and as you say all the plugs in Maplins are bagged up.You daren't use too much force on this gear nowadays either.....and there is a little diagram as well denoting + and - too on the TX.I probs will take it to Maps. Thanks again.Lakeside Bob.
