A rough translation using Google Translate:

Quote
This is an article that I wish never to have to write, unfortunately, circumstances decided otherwise.
Around 10 am Monday morning, SNS 213 Cdt Rivière, haloed his blessing 48 hours earlier, paired with seven crew members for a boat towing abandoned and drifting off St. Louis.  The sea was rough (2m / 2.5m) and stirred in the wind.  During the road, one engine stopped (why, how, expertise tell later).  The crew has nevertheless continued its mission, towed the boat and started the return journey on a motor.  Arrived at the harbor entrance, so they shortened the trailer and were inbound in alignment, the second engine stopped.  Immediately, the trailer was cut off and the anchor put a water rescue equipment checked (vests) and Annex prepared for its launching.  The mechanic is lowered into the hold to try to revive the machines while the helmsman boss also tried to revive from the steering commands.  But the swell and the wind quickly led the SNS 213, become not manageable, the rollers in the wave of the pier.  A larger series that others arrived and there, the crew realized that the situation was desperate.  "A wall of water higher than the ship landed on us," says one of the crew.

The boss has had enough time to launch a Mayday on VHF, before a first big wave does not return the boat.  Some were thrown from the bridge, others managed to cling, the mechanic in the hold saw the water rush over.  Those who had fallen into the water managed to rise to the surface, but a second wave came and hit the wrecked boat, returning the new, precipitating on the rocks and submerging the castaways.

The crew members who managed to stay on the boat delivery plumbed by the wave, though wounded and stunned, immediately reflexes kept their drive and watched somehow a visual / marking the three crew to water (which were close to drowning, caught in the rollers).  On land, other witnesses sinking of the crew have sailed with the SNS 247 Cdt Peverelly to try to go rescue their colleagues but impossible to get too close to the area at risk that Peverelly suffer the same fate.  Fortunately, a boater lunged with his zodiac and was able to reach and recover the three lifeguards (a big thank you to him).  The others managed to land among the rocks while the SNS 213 was done maliciously Drösser.  Finally, all our volunteer rescuers are safe, more or less bruised, stitched and shocked.
Thanks to their presence of mind to handle the situation, gained after years of training and rescue, thanks to their cohesion, and with the help of boater rescued, they came out alive.
On land, a chain of solidarity was put in place for SNS 213 out of his bad posture and it was reassembled by machinery companies Incana and Fontaine Service, to be tabled in early evening dock.  But after several hours in the waves and on the rocks, it is a mess.

The entire resort is in shock, we all fail to realize what happened right after this wonderful blessing ceremony.  We say a big thank you to everyone for their support in this difficult time, and above all, we are happy that the crew is safe and sound.

Bad fuel?
According to the translation they were towing an abandoned boat, so as no life was involved it was a bit risky to continue with one engine 'mysteriously' failed. I wonder what an RNLI coxswain would have done in that event?

I'd agree, looks like they fouled the towline.

 SAINT-PIERRE
highly anticipated the technical mission of the National Society for Sea Rescue (SNSM) began yesterday. The envoy Officer, Christian Helou, began his work in the afternoon. This expertise is provided on several days and began with a meeting with lifeguards present on board the "Commandant Rivière" during the capsize that boat at the entrance of the port of Saint-Pierre, last week.
According to our information, this expert is no link with the recent problems by the Cape Breton station. Strange similarities had yet been raised, such as sudden engine failure while the two stars were new (see our previous editions). These propulsion equipment still remain the center of attention to explain the shipwreck that almost turned to tragedy with seven rescuers with water. But a combination of factors is not excluded either.
Meanwhile, the floor of St. Peter confirmed that the investigation of the gendarmerie was heading conclusions exclude human error. This means the approaching end of criminal investigations. The expert will then determine the responsibilities, in particular for possible damages. The Commandant Rivière, new featured bought 700,000 euros, making his first response that day.

Breakdown first engine: overheating

Breakdown the second engine; failure sounds of temperature

It is always easy to say what we would have made

If I were to imagine, then, ....
There is no compesation if the sea entagles a tow line into the propeller and stalls the engines.

The breakdown arrived on 4 engines

The first one is correct, engine failure.

Of course they overlook the obvious reason for the failure-- the rope that is wrapped around the props! %% %%

I visited a boatyard in Amble Northumberland approximately 12 years ago and one of the RNLI boats was in there with substantial damage to the bow on the port side. There was also substantial damage to the internal bulkhead. The repair was expected to take at least a month to return the hull to standard. This damage was caused by a collision with another lifeboat when the two boats were demonstrating at speed during a regatta in the summertime. Both skippers failed to communicate intentions when passing at speed in close proximity from different direction. Sea smog was the given cause. This accident was unreported in the media.
I think we have to accept that incidents do happen even though those involved were acting with the best of intentions.
