Another great passes on
« on: May 02, 2015, 12:20:49 pm »

Geoff Duke, motorcycle racer and TT winner passed on today aged 92.

Another legend bites the dust. It must be my age but people I admired as child are passing with regular monotony nowadays.

Now that is sad news...I never saw him ride, but I did see a few of the others...Hailwood, Sheene, Read, Agostini, etc.

RIP,   Geoff Duke...you showed an awful lot of top riders the way home.

R I P Geoff,
only saw him ride a couple of times, always seemed to be part of the machine rather than perched upon it.
The whole world has changed since his time hasn't it. Remember going to a meeting in Belgium, Mettet I think, only thing between us and the riders was a length of more string than rope nailed to the tops of some 2 x 2 sticks. Public roads part of which was an offset cross roads so they were at this point heading towards each other then both turning left, another bit of string as the divider, but I think they had a couple of Castrol flags on that!!! Ahh another world.  R I P Geoff.
