Dead Planet T5

I have a Planet T5 from a friend who says he left it switched on until the batteries died.
After recharging them all he got was the red led illuminating, flickering and then going off.
There was no indication of voltage on the LCD.
I am seeing the battery voltage at the plug to the Tx board.
Any Ideas?

It's the voltage measured at the plug with the Tx switched on but the led on the board is out..

See if you can take a measurement were the battery plugs in. If it is a 8cell rechargeable pack you should be looking at 9.6v + .

Think you're on the wrong track John
It's a 4xAA battery pack and I've tried
rechargeables which charge ok in the tx
And also alkaline AA cells.

Yes, the voltage from the battery, through the main board to the
Tx board is ok .
On switch on the led on the tx board lights, flickers and then goes out
but the voltage is still there.
