Needed - Smallest size for best run time?
« on: May 11, 2015, 03:04:06 pm »

Hi Guys,

I've always used SLA Batteries in my RC Boats but I've recently got a couple of smaller boats, one of which I want to take to Wicksteed, which really don't comfortably fit in even a 6v 7.2Ah SLA.

I'd like to look into the alternatives (obviously as quickly as possible so I'm ready for Wicksteed) but what is going to give me the best runtime out there. What's the difference between the types and where should I be looking to go, moving from an entirely SLA setup at the moment.
I assume I'll have to get new connectors and obviously a new charger so if anyone's got any sources out there that sells the whole lot that'd be fantastic.

Many thanks in advance!

Alex

7.2AH, for me, is enormous.  SLA do come in much smaller sizes, 1.2AH being the smallest easily available one.
Component Shop, among others, do 5 cell 6 volt NiMH packs in various capacities, also suitable chargers.
