Blooming fuses!
« on: May 14, 2015, 07:12:46 pm »

.....or should I say Ballooning fuses.....

Having decided to individually fuse my high torque servos (See "Voice Command of boat" thread below), I wondered why on earth we have a value of 3.15A for non-household fusing.

Here's an interesting article explaining the connection between a 19th Century French Military balloonist and our current (excuse the pun) fuse ratings...........

As long as it doesn't become a matter of BOOMING fuses, it'll all work out, I hope!

Referring to the scintillating reading on number values provided by flashtwo as below  O0

http://sizes.com/numbers/preferred_numbers.htm

"In the series “tablespoon, fluid ounce, quarter-cup, gill, cup, pint, quart, pottle, gallon,” the ratio between adjacent terms is 2, which was by far the most common ratio before the rise of decimal calculation"

I could not help to wonder where the values of a 'slurp' or and a 'dash' or even a 'slosh' fitted into such tables of units of volumetric fluid measurement .... {-) ...I commonly and frequently use them to register and determine the volume of RED wine to be added to my cooking.........Derek
