This is the same stuff; it's just in the manufacturer's bottle instead. Still not cheap, but not nearly a pound per millilitre. http://www.modelmasters.co.uk/acatalog/SEU105.html
You can also get it in 250ml and even 1L sizes on E-Bay - mainly from German suppliers. Just search on "Seuthe"

I'd be careful! Reading the label this stuff is intended for water-based fog machines. These use a nebuliser to create a mist while the Graupner/Seuthe units use a heated element to vapourise an oil-based distillate.

Most of the fog machines use glycol which will not work in the oil type smoke generaters, plus can trigger asthma attacks. Use baby oil and Varsol 50/50%. It works baby oil is to thick by itself.

Glycol is used in "water-cooled" internal combustion engines to prevent freezing.  I don't think it is used for medicinal purposes, I could be wrong.   Sounds like a glycerine and alcohol mix ?    Best smoke is pyrotechnics if the model is suitable, a LOT of heat !  Expensive too.

Ah! Now I know this one! "Glycol" is ethylene glycol (anti-freeze, and sweetener in dodgy under-the-counter wine) and rubbing alcohol is pure ethanol. I wouldn't drink either of them........................ :o

As ever, Wiki has information. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/White_spirit  Varsol is, indeed, white spirit.

Martin, be careful which you use for what.

Hmm...sounds like something to be tested on the workbench, not in the boat. Best to have an appropriate fire extinguisher nearby, just in case!
