Right back at it again..
« on: May 20, 2015, 11:02:20 PM »

While I wait for the big project to arrive from the states, I've bought myself a little plastic kit to convert. This one is a Revell Swift PCF boat, comes in at a rather large 30cm long. Gear going in is a 1306 3100kv brushless running on 7.4v, should go well

Not in the least bit, but it's got some serious power in it for it's size so I want it to stay upright

Rudder? That's a keel!
I've got one of these sat somewhere waiting to b converted so will be very interested to watch this.
What sort of runtime do you think you'll get on that battery pack?

This setup was previously in a plane that ran for around 10 minutes, but if it goes well i'll consider upping it from 300mah to 1000

Two big projects coming up, first is the Delta Force 29, second in the pipeline is one I've always wanted to make, a big (around 60") BTR-70 or 80 amphibious armoured personnel carrier, that I can drive down to the lake then run around it, would have a big jet drive, 4 wheel steering, 4 wheel drive and 10 inch rubber trolley wheels, 8 of them...

Update for tonight - epoxied in the propshaft and finished and primed the superstructure ready for detailing

A tasty project for getting you back into the sail of things Andy.  Great to see the layout of the components you are using.

I am excited by that BTR project of yours. I have been looking at doing a British Terrapin using trolley wheels. it will be an interesting blog.

More!

Shaft needed support, on full chat (holy shizz this thing is gonna be ridiculous) it flopped all over the place like a floppy thing on flopping day. Hull has been primed, going for two tone camo. Kit shaft support did nicely, . Has had a float test, and thankfully it does..

I like the moulded on detail such as the rope coils. Coming on a treat!

Good call Martin.

Also, to share the love, if you enter "FREEDEL" in the code box you get free delivery. so it's only 12 total as opposed to 14.99.
Just ordered one for a rainy day.

Build is looking fantastic Andy - it's going to be a beast for sure.

Word of advice - you get what you pay for. It's a Monogram kit from 1967 and it builds like a Monogram kit from 1967. Details are sparse, mouldings are thick, there's ejector pin marks everywhere and nothing fits together properly...

Three years on and mine is finished, though not by me... %)

The Delta Force 29 mentioned earlier in this thread is also long gone, but that ran very well. May build a 26 for next year's Z class.
