I must get on with mine, but badly sliced my thumb at the weekend with a Stanley knife, only making a set of sails for someone, but 5 stitches later!!!

Hope you charged extra for the random red patterning Andy {-)
BTW The ones you made me about five years ago for my Victoria
are still going strong. :-))

Hi John, I have purchased 35mm three rail stanchions they cost a fortune for the amount needed but they should look the part. I have just placed an order for 5 crew members but they were not to bad a price.

Regards Dave.

Hi Dave, I got 27mm ones from MMModels, but not sure if they are long enough. Will get some out of packet tomorrow and have a proper look.

Got a few bits primed today I am going to make a start on the mast hopefully tomorrow as there is so much work to do in brass I thought I would do it in stages so I don't get fed up.

Regards Dave.

They were my thoughts to, even adding1mm on top for the rail it still looks a bit low, and definitely scales up to low. Where did you get yours from.

Ok today I got round to making a start on the mast, as you can see I am building it from brass with the idea that it can be used to supply the negative from the battery to the lights. It has taken a lot longer than I thought just to get this far but I put this down to having to do it from sitting in my wheelchair, I will get there in the end.

Regards Dave.

Nice work Dave, I will be watching the Mast build and fitting of lights as I want to put lights on the Tug I am making.  The cross tubes in the Mast, did you drill a hole through them to enable wires to pass through ?.

Hi Len, yes mate I drilled holes in the main mast then soldered the cross tubes into them to take the wires.

A bit more done on the mast, as you can see it's all primed ready for the next job of feeding all the wire in for the lights. I intend on using enamel coated copper wire at 0.10mm thickness as there are 12 lights on the mast alone.......not a job I'm looking forward to.

Very nice job on the mast so far.

A question ... I have some of that enamel covered wire for my mast as well and I was wondering if there is enough vibration from running the boat to rub through the enamel and have a short?

Cheers

Hi Tom, I have never used it before and was thinking of that myself and trying to think of a way to stop that happening.....maybe someone will give us the answer and solution to the problem.

Hi Dave,
Have you tried Component shop LED wire? this is what I use and no probs so far (please god) not sure of the actual size/diameter of the wire but I have 9 lights running down the mast of my Eldergarth and that is pos and neg to each light so 18 wires in total. Ring them and ask I don't like the idea of a wire rubbing up to something and shorting it all out! Nightmare to resolve it. Hope this helps.
     Cheers,
           Faz. :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-)) :-))
