Delta Force 29 Build
« on: May 21, 2015, 06:20:02 pm »

So my next project is one I've always wanted to build, a Delta Force 29. Going in it is a tuned Picco .12 on a gearbox, previously in an Aeromarine Challenger that was easily the fastest Z class boat I've ever seen. This one is slightly smaller and about half the weight, so it should fly along nicely..

Onwards..

Made all the holes in the transom, cut out the cooling duct, cut up the motor mounts and epoxied one side in

Well it's nearly there, just the back end of the hatch retention to go

Been on the scrounge for bits today, fuel tank mount is made from a cut down 3.5" hard drive mount, and the needle valve mount was made from a servo horn.

All up this thing weighs 1850 grams, which is ridiculous seeing as just the hull of the Aeromarine Challenger 31 I used as a donor weighs 1250g. This thing is quite possibly going to be more plane than boat...

Well it had it's first run today, very pleased with it indeed, drives like it's on rails. Running somewhere around 40mph, still got a bit of tuning to do but was running a bit rich. Weather was abysmal today so no video for now, will get one next week. Mayoress of Stevenage seemed very impressed with it {-)
