just looked through some of them and the majority was bad prep screws puncturing cells  or operator induced as below, nicads would have done the same.  Just wait till these become more popular they will be called satans cells

And there I was thinking of getting some LIpo's,knowing my luck I would burn the ruddy shed down

I dont think that makes a difference really. The important thing, as has already been said, is to take care whether you are charging nicads, nimh or lipos. My personal advice is follow the instructions carefully and dont leave lipos unsupervised when charging.

EDIT. Have now read the fast electrics article and found it very informative with good advice.
