Strut Props: What do people use?
« on: June 03, 2015, 01:52:52 pm »

I believe I should be supporting the end of the prop tube on my Hunstman with a prop strut, but although they seem readily available for fast electric I can't seem to find any for normal electric boats.

Any advice please? Or do people just let the tube protrude from the underside of the hull without support? %%

Thanks in advance for any help you can render.

I do not know how much prop tube you have , I think what you should do a search for "P" brackets or "A" brackets ,if I remember that what thy call them . You could make your own ,sleeve the tube be it brass or plastic fix a leg and attach to hull.
Hope this is some help

Excellent advice, thanks. At the moment I don't have anything in place, I am awaiting the motor before I go ordering the prop tube so I can get it as low and forward as possible.

I think terminology is my biggest problem with this Hobby. I remember the first day I read the instructions for my boat and the first thing I had to do was look up "Transom"....  :embarrassed:

Hi if you're using 4mm exposed shafts then any 4mil support will do a V will give more strength than a single leg regards Bill....

Ok thanks. Mine is a Fibreglass hull so I assume I just drill a slot for the strut and glue it in place?

Have a look on ebay I've seen on a few occasions P brackets for sale.

They might come in useful.
