You hear all the reason why to and why not, but really what you want is to test and then if it suits your needs you will use it. The best way forward is to use the built in software to make an image copy of your system on a second hard drive or using some free some ware make a clone of your hard drive. Then install your windows 10 and play with it and see if it suits. If you do not like it you can revert to your old software be it windows 8 or 7 and you have lost nothing. If your are really clever you could do the same with windows 10 make a clone or image copy and store away and reuse if they improve it. All software will be legal as it it loaded to your system board and computer so the license key will work.
Point to note windows 10 will clear out some of the third party software so make sure if you need this that you have installation discs to load that software again should windows wipe it clean.
Good points. I think that this should be the script for all of us. Just ensure that before the Win10 installation is cloned, it has been registered or activated or whatever the buzzword is. And if you have more than one machine, do it for all of them, they will all register differently.
