I don't think it's best to fit electrolytic capacitors across a motor. They are usually smaller in value and non polarity types.

To connect one end to the motor case will require a earth solder lug screwed to the mounting frame via the motor mounting block.

Hope this helps,

Check out Component Shop Website.
Capacitor sets and info on there.

Capacitors act as short circuits for high-frequencies and the sparking of the carbon brushes inside the motor creates lots of high frequencies.
These can interfere with the radio control signals.
By fitting capacitors connected to the carbon brushes, this high frequency noise can be shorted down to ground or to the shield can of the motor.
There are lots of ways of doing this – the simplest is to get a soldering iron and make a couple of solder blobs on the metal can right next to the terminals.
A 0.1uf (100nF) ceramic capacitor is then soldered to the terminal and the other leg is soldered into the blob on the can. The legs should be cut as short as possible to be more effective. Do not use any capacitors with little + or – markings as they only like the electricity in one direction – and will normally explode (pop) if you reverse the polarity. A 3rd capacitor is often strung between the terminals to remove even more noise.
Always check the voltage rating on the capacitors you buy to make sure they are man enough for the voltages you are using. (you will need good glasses to see the numbers, probably 35V and the value will normally be written as 104 (10 + 4 noughts = 100,000pf = 100nf = 0.1uf)

I have to remark that those capacitors on the Component Shop website are somewhat larger than I remember being used in the past.  I have bought a bundle of them anyhow for the 385 motors I have as I couldn't see any specifically for this motor on their site (they specify for 600 motors +).

Are they suitable for 385's????? The numbers on them would suggest yes.........

There are two different sizes, Carl. The values of either will suit any motor but the bigger ones would be difficult to fit onto a 385.

Minimum order for free delivery is £20 but there's loads of stuff for modellers on this website (e.g. DC power plugs, fuses, cable, solder, switches). JPR are cheaper but their minimum on-line order is £30. Maplins are a joke - even if you can find someone there to serve you.

Hi Mike0001
This may help you with understanding the use of capacitors on a motor and fitting of them
