« on: July 27, 2015, 01:43:28 pm »

Hi there, I'm in a quandry, I have recently purchased a 1/32nd Type 42 Destroyer, but usually I model to 1/72nd or 1/96th, I have a 1/72nd set of plans, but need to resize to 1/32nd, does anyone know what the percentage is that i need to resize to 1/32nd from 1/72 ????.  Sorry I'm a thicko and any help would be much Appreciated. Thanks in Advance. Jack the Gunner, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex.

if you are taking 1/72 to 1/32 you need to x the 1/72 measurement by 2.25 to get a 1/32 measurement  (for example a 1m length on a 1/72 plan is 72m in real life, so 72m divided by 32 in 1/32 scale, = 2.25m)

Correct, I always find it easiest to assume a 1m length, so to go from 1/48 to 1/32, take 1m on the 1/48 plan and scale up to full size (48m) and then back down to 1/32 (48/32) = 1.5m   so x by 1.5 to get from 1/48 to 1/32

No problems, I've had lots of practice building my 1/72 Dreadnought from the ATOS book, some of which I have found have the wrong scales on the drawings (but that's another story!)

Just an idea, but if you take the model of your type 42 at the scale you have and put it with the same scale Aircraft carrier the type 45 and type 23 you have a start of a taskforce!

Onora.
A 1/32 Task force would look great on the water. maybe a few minesweeper and patrol boats as well at 1/32 scale. There is a 1/32 scale mine hunters here in Australia.

I built a 1/32nd HMS Gloucester for the Guinness world record and sold it on last year.  This isn't the same one by any chance?

If so,  I used Jecobin 1/96th plans multiplied up by 6 as a basis supplemented by lots of measurements on board the real ship.  Is there anything in particular you are needing more info on?
