Messed Up
« on: August 28, 2015, 11:51:56 am »

Hi All
help please, sprayed my lifeboat in Halfords car body paints, all stages left for a week between, however, final coat of their lacquer crazed the blue which was mixed in store.
I wish to take back the paint to the hull (ie no paint) and start from scratch , can anyone advise me as to what paint remover I can use ?
the hull is GRP.
once again thanks
Mike .

What material is the hull?

I normally use Nitromors.

Most paint strippers will attack the GRP hull - eventually, if not sooner. You're safest using elbow grease and silicon-carbide paper.

Thanks for that TC although on the tin its says not for car body paints and glassfibre.

Dave looks like the elbow grease route, be like lines at school," I must check before use" reckon that'll be worth a 1000 or so. thanks for help.
