Ha Ha :} Now the hull has gone out of shape due to the split and the cross members braking out  >>:-( If i get anymore problems I shall make a model of a U boat, and name mine Compass Rose.

  Sorry to hear of your disaster. If you still really dislike that green I have to say that it does not look right in what appears to be an Admiralty Disruptive scheme. I would expect that bow area to be G20, a medium greenish grey. Or do you have proof that it is right? Kit instructions are not infallible.

  If your hull is irreparable I believe Deans do a replacement in 1/72.

Jonty. I think you got us mixed up, Dan is the one with the camouflage,  mine is the one with the problems.

Not so much a green, more of a biscuit (pale rich tea shade), was perplexed when I put it on mine - reminds me got to get it out of storage.

  Easily confused, I'm afraid! One of the light blue-greys, B55 from memory, was replaced by a light khaki late in the war due to shortage of blue pigment. Lack of green pigment had caused the abandonment of the pale Western Approaches Green long before that.

I think you could pick holes in the kit from here to Christmas  {-)  there seems to be several mistakes / mods in the kit going by other reviews etc, I'm just gonna do mine as it says on the tin, or box in this case  %%  As long as it's reasonable I'm happy  :-))

That's the ticket Dan - and as long as you're happy, you'll continue to produce reasonable models :-)

Got a little done today before doing boring house stuff took over  >:-o  Fitted front deck & built up rear superstructure. Had to do a bit of sanding to get it to fit the rear deck nice & flush, getting there though  :-))  Will add a bit of coaming around the rear deck access to help keep it in place also.
When visiting a museum the other day, I saw this nice example in one of the display cases, took a piccy of her for inspiration  :}
Anyway a little more done is better than nowt I always say  O0

Nice to see you back Dan,  I have been busy with the Compass Rose,  must update my thread. On the Bluebell in the museum I see they have the hedgehog in a different place.  Don't she look rusty  {:-{ don't think I will go that far.

Cheers Chris, that's the trouble with work etc, stops all the fun  {:-{  Hadn't noticed the hedgehog placement tbh, no I don't think I'll weather mine either, I'm not all that great at weathering, plus they were all brand new once  {-)  It's nice to start seeing some shape forming, been a hull for to long !!

Dan I have looked at the Graupner smoke units and not certain how they work as they look to small, can you attach a pic of one. Have sent you a message on my thread.

Hi Chris, thanks for the offer of the plans, but I'll leave the decks as is, as I've glued the rear & front down already. The smoke unit works well for the size, only about an inch long & 3/8th dia, so will fit n the funnel no probs  :-))  puffs out enough smoke but not belching out if you know what I mean  :-)  You just wire it up to the motor & it works when the motor goes etc. Basic but does the job.
One "Q" what colour are you painting your decks ? Cheers Dan

I've got one of those in my first Flower - it works well on calm days. I mounted it inside the funnel surrounded by packed Rockwool to stop it melting the funnel - no problems with it.

Thanks Dan for the pics, do you have to put some kind of oil in it ?  For the colour of the deck I used Humbrol 32 dark grey. Did your deck fit OK ?

Hi Chris, yes you get a small pot with it & you squirt ot in with a syringe supplied. Obviously you can buy more once you need it. The front n rear deck fitted fine, rear I glued a bit at a time as it was quite aukward being fairly big. The upper deck fits well apart from a small gap starboard front, which wouldn't be aproblem if glued on, but as removable it will have to stay. Only about 1mm so not horrible etc. Cheers on the paint I'll go the same route :-) keep up the good work Dan.

Quick update, ordered the brass stanchions from Keith at :-   http://www.modellingtimbers.co.uk/40.html
He only had 3 packs in stock, but sent out what he had & will post others when he gets them in next week.  Cracking service from him, they arrived the next day, can't grumble at that  :-))  Anyway fitted the bow railings & used some wire from Keith also, you need really good eyes or a magnifying glass to see the holes, neither of which I have  {-)  so feeding the wire through was fun to say the least, but looks good once done. Next job give it a coat of paint  :}
