Special Interest to Australian Modelers

Hi Folks,

I'm posting this here at the request of a fellow modeler to help spread the word of a special event that may take place in Australia.....

Master model ship builder, former champion of Russia and chairman of the Russian Association of static ship modellers Alexander Dobrenko has been generous enough to offer his time in Australia to run some workshops for those who wish to learn the techniques used by many professional model ship builders. This will be an excellent opportunity for all level of modellers and we are anticipating to hold 1 week classes in 3 Australian cities in October 2007.

A number of Alex's close colleagues have been World Champions and if you have access to the internet you can view a gallery of models built by his association here:

L'Ambiteux (scored 100 points out of a possible 100 by Naviga making it a "perfect" model by judges)

The HMS Victory (which was built by one of his colleagues and also won 2 gold medals) can be seen here:

At this stage we are trying to gauge the level of interest that such a series of classes would attract in each state so that we can plan his travel itinerary within Australia.

Alex will not be charging any money for his time - only enough to cover his airfare, accommodation and food and as such a small nominal fee will need to charged. This fee wil depend on the number of people attending and we can advise once we gauge the level of interest.

If you are intersted in attending the classes you will need to register your interest by the 18th of August by emailing Anthony Ramos at : antram04@yahoo.com.au
This by no means obliges you to attend - it only provides us with an indication of whether this project is going to be feasible. We will then contact you to provide you with additional information about the dates, location and costs.

If you have any additional questions please feel free to contact Anthony directly.
