I don't know if anyone is interested in these types of vessel but I feel they make good subject material for a model. This is MANILLA built 1893 and is a stern wheel paddle steamer. She was built by Lobnitz & Co. of Renfrew.

The engine looks like a tandem compound. I'm wondering how they reversed it?

Hello ;
We do not see the mechanical wheels, but it looks like the side-wheel boats. But I stand on the second photo, a steam roller?

KO3,
Reversing was probably done by stopping the engine and manually moving a rod attached to the eccentric between ahead and astern pin positions. "Smoke Ash and Steam" has a discussion.
