Hello All from a Newbie
« on: September 21, 2015, 09:07:52 pm »

Firstly, hello to everyone from a complete newbie to the hobby. I have been browsing for a couple of days now and am impressed with the information dispensed in the forum. I have been thinking about a Billing kit for a year or two now (Was looking at the Smit Rotterdam) but thankfully realised that as a beginner that was way beyond my skill level. I have just purchased the Billing Will Everard kit off ebay last night (think it's an older one as it seems to have  same No but different letters) I got this for £45 and it is basically unopened and I feel this is an ideal starter kit for me especially when I start reading about the need for bending the planks for the hull. I am building it as a static model and hopefully it will be good enough to put in a case. Would welcome any thoughts as to whether I need to bend the planks and the easiest method of doing this for a novice. I am eager to get started and pass many hours during the winter nights.

Hi Bill, welcome to Mayhem, I can't believe you haven't been already welcomed by some of the others it's unusual! That said I'm sure they'll be along in droves once you start posting progress of your build.
 I've only been on here a few months and realised the help you get is second to none.
 Good luck with your build and remember "Mayhem loves photos" U2

Thanks for the welcome guys. I will post photos of the build as I go along as that will be an excellent way of getting feedback as to where I am going wrong.

........Hey, I'm not gonna be left behind.

Welcome aboard Bill - but, beware ! You could find yourself becoming hooked on Mayhem just like loads of us are.  O0

I've just googled that Will Everard model - Price new = approx. £80 to £90, so you've done well there.

Looking forward to seeing more on this one.  :-))

Regards,

Ray.

Thanks to everyone for the welcomes to the forum. Looking forward to the arrival of my kit and in the meantime reading as much as I can to get the best advice on building it. I have an airbrush, compressor and quite a range of model tools so should be reasonably well equipped. Just a pity you can't buy expertise!!  :}
