I checked out the lake 2 weeks ago, there was one guy sailing with his daughter, he was sailing a 1/72 scale Winston Churchill.

The access to the lake has been over looked by the council, you have to park your car on double yellow lines, take everything in and leave them while you park your car in the side road, if you have a trolly its still awkward as there are steps up to the lake.
Its a lovely lake but a bit ill concived by the council, they have been approached to putting gates in the side road, the might get round to it.

There is no model boating clubs in WIDNES, your nearest is St Helens or Runcorn, I dont think there are any associated with this lake.

I turned up at st helens to sail a few years ago to sail with my  son and was told by the then chairman that it was a private lake! this I found was not the case, I was allso told only members can sail and if i tried to sail "I could fall in" very brave as im on a walking stick .at the time I was a member of 3 clubs Liverpool ,New Brighton  and cheadder steam .I have allways had  a good time at clubs and was one of the first people in the  formation the liverpool club in 1967.I have been told that the st Helens club has changed but ill burn my boats before ill go there again..and liverpool lake has no more shoping carts than any other public park .

Hello,
ALL are welcome to come and sail at the Heath Lake in Runcorn.
We sail Wednesday and Sunday afternoons, all year, weather permitting.
The usual Freq Board will be in operation to avoid Freq clashes.

Car parking almost at the waters edge and foot path access all around the Lake.
Come along and meet us, have some fun and a good sail.

The Club Website is at www.runcornmodelboats.co.uk

dear me sir, you did have a bad experience! I can assure you now that the morons who used to run the club have been booted out , but, there are still some vegies left, who need the Darleks setting on them!
Thanks for comming back if that is the case ill give it a try in the next few weeks. Peter

ps was it your lake in the Local papers the other month, with the JCB in it??
