The Marx are long out of production.
Although people still seem to be able to find units second hand.


Bauer Modelle appears to offer the old Graupner Schottel I and II, and

several custom version should your pocket book be well padded.

The 40mm and 50mm Schottel Antrieb on the bottom of the second page are
Bauer's production version. From what we can gather they use the top end of the
Graupner Schottel I, but have a different bottom end drive shape.

They look ok, I'm looking for schottels for a 1/50 asd tug,  most schottel predrude too far or the props are two small for any power, try to find the happy medium.

I used the Graupner Schottel I on my 1:48 SDM tug.
It is able to achieve a solid 2.5 lbs (1.13kg) bollard pull on the fish scale.

Would need 2 for a Stockholm Archipelago ferry we are looking to produce - but at nearly 500 euro EACH, we may need to source something else!!!!

 ...yes Carl..... but they are a beautiful piece of engineering  ...and the belt drive for both propulsion and direction is another brilliant concept  .....

An alternate supplier appears to market them for 318 Euro  .......and provides dimensions too........Derek

In answer to the question, are the small graupner drives enough for towing.

Yes.

SDM on a barge(sideways).
SDM tug pushing 900 lb pumpkin.
The Springer tug, single 40 mm propeller pushing 1400 lb pumpkin.
Okay, 1447lbs. (656.34kg)

We see the pumpkin floats even at 1447 lbs  .......but that's a lot of potential pumpkin soup there Umi.......  ....... Derek

To maneuver your pods azimuth that is what you need: a module 360 °

It is plug play.

It is very small.

It costs only 129 euros net (except freight)
To compare with the market.









Two versions in the kit

No radio modification with rotary contact VR A for the throttle

Two small welds for the (provided) stick, the rotary contact is then at the end of (provided) stick
The throttel is thus transferred by VR Has towards the stick and the rotary contact VR A neutralized

Think yourself lucky, a future build of mine has 4 of these!! I'm building my own, may not be as pretty as those but they will still work

Hello

Yes there is a note in English but there is détrompeurs where it is necessary.
There is no possibility of destroying the module and no possibility of misadjustment. There are securities everywhere. Impossible to connect back to front.

You connect the module by respecting the photo n°1
You put your pods in the neutral in the hand.
You initialize and it is in office. That's it.

Gazou, you never answer where or when the Seapod 360° will be available for purchase.
 


As for the Graupner drives, my largest two tows to date.
Today at the pumpkin regatta.
1167 lbs(529.34kg), and 1,234 lbs(559.73kg) 
Todays winner at 1794.5 did not go into the water.
Many other pumpkins went to the races.
