Which thinner?
« on: October 04, 2015, 11:12:07 am »

One for those who know about all things colourful

I have a selection of airbrush paints made by house of kolor. I'm trying to find a thinner/airbrush cleaner that works with them.
When I bought them I bought some jars of reducer but these are small jars that cost as much as the paint and are not exactly economical come clean up time

The offending paints

universal thinners works with base coat and 2 pack so id go for that a litre from paint factors about £4 better than gun wash thinners which is recycled thinner which get water in it.As well as cleaning your airbrush you can use it to thin paint if your misting flames

A quick call to a HOK supplier in the UK and it seems that regular cellulose thinner is fine for clean up, tho they did suggest using the HOK reducer.... But then they would wouldn't they lol

House of Kolor use MEK as a reducer- or did when I was spraying custom motorcycles! Lovely paint but damn expensive back in the 80's

Still not cheap now but sticks nicely to the polycarbonate bodies we use for RC car racing :)
