Paddling along
« on: October 10, 2015, 10:40:45 am »

The urge to build something a little different came over me.  A rowing boat was tempting but in my experience they are limited to sailing in calm conditions and a paddle driven canoe looked a better bet.
The resulting model is robust and basic, as befits an experiment.  Reliable operation took a little time to sort out, like most problems, the solutions were obvious but only after you had seen them!  But, it looks and performs surprisingly well even with its two rather weird looking figures.
The model is around 30 inches long and weighs 5 pounds.  A standard two function radio controls two geared electric motors so the model can be controlled "Tank Style".  This enables it to perform just like you would expect a two man canoe to do.

The plans are drawn up, just the construction notes to finish before it can be sent off to the Model Boats magazine.
