Can any one tell me what is the best Filler to use on my hull

We would need to know the material you want to stick it to and also if you want to attach anything to it.  There are quite a few fillers out there and each is different.

It will be going on top of Balsa then I will be putting lime on

Do you meen that you have a hull made of balsa then you are covering that with lime planking???? if so i dont think you will need filler between the layers, use a good PVA to attach the lime planks then sand and fill to finnish

Definately.... helped us out with some fibreglassing advice for sons 1:1 Scale Triumph Spitfire.

I guess from what you say that you are wanting to fill gaps or dings to give you a fair surface for the lime planking.  As it won't show, I would use a proprietary wood filler from your local DIY/hardware shop (perhaps something like http://www.diy.com/departments/ronseal-multi-purpose-natural-wood-filler-100g/36117_BQ.prd?icamp=recs ).  Don't use anything that dries very hard such as epoxy or some car body fillers - you will sand away the balsa before you sand the filler flush.  If the gaps are bigger than, say, 1mm put some tape behind it to stop the filler just pushing through. 

What are you building?  My curiosity is aroused!

Use U-POL TOPSTOP. Its the best filler for wood[ or other materials ] you can buy. The tin is open in my workshop all day during my builds

Which one do you use ?... U-POL make several different ones under the TOPSTOP range.
They all appear to be car body fillers.

The u-pol is for car use but is also useful for the modeller. A two part mix like u-pol Easy.
The one I was referring to is Topstop gold and the tin says, for all surfaces. I buy a 1litre tin that lasts for a year.

Thanks for the quick response, I will give it a try.

I have in the past tried P38 but found it difficult to sand down when used on Balsa... I have been using Deluxe Materials 'Model Lite' for some years as I find this more suitable for use on Balsa structures.

Always ready to try something different though.

Its better than 38 for timber filling. Its denser and initially softer but hardens up eventually. I get mine from Movac in Royston. Its for topping up and filling 38 . Does what it says on the tin !
