They are of the same vessel but by different manufactures however, the former is rubbish and not worth wasting money on; the latter though makes up into a nice model for say in a diorama. It will also sail quite well, in calm conditions.

I have an example of the Trumpeter for disposal if your interested, pm me if so.

hi,
thank you for your answer,
you said "same vessel but by different manufactures "
yes but ,are they the same scale? (1/200 means 78 cm and 1/115 means 130 cm)

if you read this topic: http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php?topic=38588.0

he writes:"the strange thing is on the box it said 1/115 scale but the dimensions fit the 1/200 scale trumpeter kit  ?
and i have since replaced the rear mast with a scratchbuilt lattice type.....etc"
So I do not understand if "the former" is 1/200 as well as trumpeter or not
all my best

The 1/115 scale listed on the 'toy' version not accurate - it's probably so they don't get sued for copyright.

There are lots of threads where people take the cheap toy (about £35 brand new on ebay including postage) and add detail to make it better. A lot depends on whether you want a super-accurate scale model for static looks or if you want something that looks 'ok' at a distance on the water. Google is your friend there.

I understand the cheap toy radio control set is totally rubbish so you would want to upgrade the internals if you go that route.

As far as I am aware, both models are the same size in every detail.

Just measured my Trumpeter Sovremenny and it was 78cm. I made this as a static model in 2007 and cost about £60 it came with Brass photo etch parts including guard rails so made a good detailed kit OOB.

I used the White Ensign gun turrets and PE on my rebuild of the RTR Sovremenny. The White Ensign range was sold to Tom's Modelworks in the USA. I think Sovereign Miniature are the UK agents.

There are some photos of my rebuild here -
