MotorFlote photos anyone?
« on: October 22, 2015, 12:02:10 pm »

This coming Saturday the MotorFlote makes her first proper public debut at our local club's indoor show...does anyone have any information on the full size 'Flote, please? I always like to have something printed and framed to display alongside my boats at a show, but apart from what's on the build article, I have nothing more.

Any photos...in fact anything MotorFlote related would be very gratefully received.

Thanks guys...

Seem to remember that there were some photos on your Build thread all those years ago. O0.

That's the ones that were on the the original build article by David Metcalf, that's all I have.

 Hi Richard ,
I recall reading some/most of the postings of your build log of the boat and its 'inhabitants' and in the absence of anything from more knowledgeable folk than I, perhaps this will help you out a bit, I think that the company that made the original Motorflote  upon which your model plan was based, is the construction company VolkerBrooks. Here is one picture of such a pushtug in action , though no large sandwich eating seagulls in residence !

actually, this might be a better picture for the purpose of your model display info as it's a bit more close-up.......http://www.volkerbrooks.co.uk/dynamics/modules/SFIL0200/view.php?fil_Id=5728&thumb_nr=21

Martin...Trevor...thanks to both of you for your efforts, you were both close. Very close...but no cigar.

MotorFlotes are basically a motorized pontoon, I know that there was at least one operating in Poole Harbour in the late sixties/early seventies, but that's more or less all I know. I've had my spies out looking, but to avail...so, I guess they were withdrawn and lost in the mists of time.

Thank you both again, I appreciate your assistance..

Ah well, I don't smoke anyway! The reason that I suggested this company was because they call their pontoon units 'linkflotes' which is very similar terminology and though the picture I showed ( twice by mistake, just could not copy&paste the other one!) is of a longer craft than your boat.  Good luck, you just might find something in time

Thanks anyway, Trevor...yes, I'll keep on looking, one day I'll succeed in my quest. I'm contemplating building another one, only twice the size of the original.

Put your original one in the water and it may swell up.  :-))
