« on: October 31, 2015, 05:41:58 pm »

Hi all, since my time away from my start at model boat building due to selling up and moving to the midlands. I am looking for a yacht almost water ready to get some sailing in while I work on my two project. Have a new tx- tr

Locate the nearest local model yacht club and visit them at their sailing site.  One boat for pottering about, inevitably turns into some sort of a race when the next boat shows up.  Best if the boats are of the same class, so avoid picking the wrong one by seeing what the local club sails, and choosing that. :-)

Look at the Dragonforce, comes in various packages to suit [R/C Yachts].Maybe not for the purist yachtsman, but I was in a similar position and I love mine.Plenty on YT to see them.Good luck.LakesideBob.

Size is also a consideration. A 1m boat assembled is huge, compared to one of 75 to 80cm.
A 1m will need to be derigged every time. One of 75-80 will usually fit into most cars without disassembly.

Two popular choices not mentioned yet.

I have a Thunder Tiger Victoria (78cm). It is 90% assembled in the box, and will fit into the back seat area of a medium family saloon if you put it on the floor and tilt it at an angle. Not tried it in a small saloon.  About 95 quid

Graupner micro magic is also a similar size but more expensive and higher quality. Basic model about 135 quid. I am not sure how much assemble this requires.

Search around for a ready-built Robbe 'Comtesse'. A great sailer around 1mtr  and easy to sail in almost any winds. Short keel for easy shallow water sailing, and simple to carry in any small car without dismantling. So good I have owned 3.

The Hobbyking offerings are not ready to sail.
Like all cheap boats they have (serious) flaws which should be addressed before it becomes a joy to sial them.

G'day "smartie59"
There are a number of possibilities worthy of consideration. A few have been named in previous posts. The Dragon Force 65 is a very popular boat and can be purchased with or without a radio. The DF 65 is probably the hottest selling boat right now. Another very popular boat is the Kyosho Seawind 1 meter. Sold complete RTR (with radio) The Victoria, another very popular boat is offered as a kit and as an RTR in some parts of the world. My friend Chumphon has mentioned the Stockmaritime 3x1 which is an amazing boat to be sure. The price tag is not so attractive to those of us less fortunate sailors here in the U.S.  ok2
A boat that has been extremely popular here in the U.S. is the Nirvana ll sold as an RTR currently on sale at sailrc.com (can be shipped to the UK) Another great boat mentioned is the Micro Magic -sold in kit form or as an RTR. Smaller boat that sails like a 1meter.
"Beauty is in the eye of the beholder" as the old saying goes. It fits this situation because you have to like the boat - it's your money - your call. :-))
