Humbrol enamel over sanding sealer?
« on: November 06, 2015, 01:56:51 pm »

Once I've gone through the sanding sealer and sanding routine and I'm happy with the surface, do I go straight on to my brushed Humbrol enamel or do I need some sort of primer?  If I do need a primer next, can I use Rustins oil-based white primer even though it says "for bare wood" on the tin?

Just a light rub down for a key and straight on.

Like all painting an undercoat is good it will help show any blemishes as the light will reflect of it different .
Humbrol Matt 1 is a gray colour it will also help build up the paint and it will give a better depth of colour.

I would do it as David suggests. The benefit of undercoat and rubbing down pays off in a deep Lustrous finish.
Don't rush it, keep going until it's as good as you can get it.
