Can you identify this kit
« on: November 08, 2015, 06:00:50 pm »

This tug took my fancy at Warwick yesterday but I neglected to find out if it was a kit or not and if so who makes it. Any body know. It's similar to the ASD tug kit Smit Clyde from Jan Meerbeek but not the same.

Any info gratefully received

Looks like a modified hull from Marks model bits.

Hi Dougal99
It is a modified kit from MMB and it belongs to Lee Dickinson.
Who was with the southern model display team at Warwick and
is a member on here I think uses the handle lifeboatLee.

Hope this helps

Hi Dougal99
Del is correct in saying it is a Marks Model Boat kit of his ASD Tug that I built.
The model has many working features such as winch, monitors, radar, nav lights and instrument illuminations.
I changed the scale slightly to 1/35 from 1/40 so that graupner figures could be used from my bits box.
All the hand rails were re-engineered to new scale, the wheel house was made taller too. The props were Jotika  asimuth units 50mm.
I hope this helps you, however it was a challenge to get this up and running in such a small space  :-))

An interesting and informative read. TVM

After a nice chat with Mark, I ordered one today. Should be with me in a week to 10 days (or so).

Now I must finish HMS Exeter. Railings ugh!
