"Top Gun Anthem" is an instrumental rock song composed by Harold Faltermeyer, and played on guitar by Steve Stevens

I think his best ever acting was in Tropic Thunder as Les Grossman.

Tom Cruise 5'7" played  Jack Reacher 6'6"...  It's stretching more than just credibility, isn't it?  ;)

I gradually got thoroughly sick of "Take my breath away" when it was used on the TV advert for a Peugeot car (seemingly every ****** advert break...), but wasn't there a rock track by Kenny Loggins in the movie as well? Something about the danger zone? It was played over some of the flying sequences and I seem to recall that it was pretty darn good.

I don't think he could spend any more of those! My guess is that Lee Child had no say in who played JR, but I seem to recall that once I'd got over his lack of stature Mr Cruise did quite a passable job. I'm off now to continue reading JR #20 and sip my 15 year-old Glenfarclas - thanks again, David1948 - while the mixed pepper stew (to go with the fish-cakes) cooks. Tough life, this retirement. eh?

You obviously speak as someone who has read the books.

For those who haven't and didn't know that Reacher was supposed to be over 6ft then Cruise turned in a good performance.

As an aside to this, Sky Movies ran a whole week of his movies recently. I for one thought no way it, it would be repeat after repeat. It was only when I went to Wikipedia to see how many movies he has made that I got a shock. He is prolific, often working on two or more productions at the same time. The guy does not know the meaning of take a break! Working on his 49th movie as we speak.
