Traplet Pilot for the kids
« on: November 29, 2015, 05:26:37 pm »

My Grandson has been very exited watching the progress of my Clyde Puffer and now my Portgarth Tug, so I thought I'd strike whilst the irons hot (and its a good excuse to buy some boating bits  %% ) and get the Grand kids building a simple boat.

I chose the Traplet Pilot boat as it just about falls together (with the laser wood kit), and is a good size. My Grandson (5 years old) however has insisted on a few important rules;

1/ It goes fast
2/ It looks like a "Batman Boat"  :embarrassed:  (I now have some Batman stickers and a Batman lego figure to suit)

So armed with the wood pack, plans and other hardware collected over the last few weeks, I showed my Gson all the parts so far collected, and we put them into a big box with his name on the lid, so he knows its all his, and today we started.

It wasnt long before my two Grandaughters (7 & 8 years old) also wanted to get involved so away we went.

The three of them took it in turns to sand and glue the parts

At this point we stopped to allow the glue time to dry, and besides next Sunday is probably going to be another wet day  %%

Its been great to have the 4 of us working on what should be a fun project, not only to build but also to sail.

Being sunday, a bit more of the build was done today, the cabin

Logan had to then check that his chosen Batman figure would fit through the door and looked ok

Its nice that when Logan comes over the first thoughts are "are we doing my Batman boat?"

Didnt think it was fair to leave the skins to the Gkids to fit, but they can do the hard work of sanding it down lol

Brilliant to see younglings working hard to create something they can then enjoy for the future. It isn't instant and it soden;t go bleep/battery dead. I saw Logan was also inspecting an electric component. Have you explained 'Magic grey smoke' to him yet!
