Whoopee I've managed to sort an electrical problem and all four winch servos now work :} :} :} :}

I decided to join two receiver packs in series giving me 12v. This then runs through the same stand alone BEC as before but with the extra voltage it mustn't now dip below the minimum requirement needed to power everything.

I'm really happy............ :} %% :-))

I just finished the forward cabin, now for the centre cabin and the guard rail then it's trial time :} .

I just found this ... very well done indeed. If I may ask, how big is this boat? It looks quite large.

That is a very nice size boat for sure. I have a mini12 (just over 1 meter long with a Soling 1 meter rig) that I am redoing and I have just ordered the frames for a J boat.

I look forward to seeing pics of yours on the water.

I'm looking for a captain, a suitable ships wheel, an electric (non working) winch and a couple of anchors if anyone knows a god source..... Think I'll pop an ad on here..... U2

Look on ebay for Mcdonalds toys and get a captain Haddock.
A ships wheel, I had mine made by a friend on a lathe,  a boss a small inner  section and a larger outer section then sll drill through and cocktail sticks used to hold it all together.

Klunk, cocktail sticks, good idea. I have a small ships wheel I don't need so maybe that will do as a centre. If I manage it I'll report back....

Cocktail sticks it was!    Plus a section from an adjustable kitchen unit support and the original wooden ships wheel used as a centre...... Oh it sound bad when I read it back but it's actually pretty good. (Even though I say it myself).  :embarrassed:  Photos tomorrow........

Today was the 'Alantis' Maiden voyage. I waited for a high tide and a calm sea with a not too windy weather....... She was fantastic, she needs a bit of wind to move her as she weighs in at a few kilos over a standard 'Atlantis' but when the wind did catch her she was off.....

I have a couple of small adjustments to make and after I've got her sorted I'll post a load of photos and try to get a video made......... I'm very happy she sails so well :} :} :} :} :} :} :} :} :}

Here is the wheel I mentioned earlier

The rigging hooks are made from piano wire and hook into split pins which are resined at an angle through the deck

This shows the hand rail and the pin rails with fitted pins. These pins are a bi product from a job we do at work. They are the broken end of a 'pop' style rivet, (cherry max to be more accurate)

Optical illusion honest........

The join between the left and right bulwarks looks really bad on this photo, so bad that I just went back to check my boat. Luckily in real life it's fantastic, phew, but I don't know why it looks like that on the photo. :o

The sunlight highlights every small detail, I didn't realise how bad the rear name sticker looks...... I'll have to order new ones.

Then closed again....... When I re fit the cover it pushes over a rubber elastic seal which is lightly vaselined to make it waterproof

I couldn't get the picture to rotate but I said she was a beast....... The stand weighs 1.5kg so that means the boat comes in at a tad over 20kg or 44lbs in old money..... %%

And finally when I de rig her for transportation I found that by sticking all the hooks to the masts it's far easier and less tanglier (is that a word?) next time I come to set her up. Hope you enjoyed the pics... U2

Well after the successful maiden voyage (followed by a week in bed with a bad back lifting it in and out the water) just kidding but it is heavy. I have now built a trailer that will allow the boat to be rolled into the sea down a ramp and then back onto the trailer when I have to remove it again.

It's wooden made and then has been covered in resin (like my boat) and has solid rubber tyres. This will stop it trying to float ( I hope ) saying that I can't imagine anything floating with my boat strapped to its back....... Photos shortly...... U2
