Richard Densham (DickyD) was a one-off. You'll get a good idea of both the man himself and what others thought of him from this thread. http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,40882.0.html
He died almost exactly three years ago (15.12.2012) and he is still sorely missed.

I know he got up certain people's noses. .....sometimes deliberately,  but a fount of knowledge and an all round good chap. Raising a pint you Richard,  and may the sun always shine on you wherever you are my friend. And of course, may your ironing board always be full of models

Bob Blease (Shipmate60) and I went to his funeral. It was very cold! Seems a while ago now.

I think of Richard regularly, but am stunned to find it was almost three years since his passing. Time passes so quickly. I do hope his family are doing well.
I do miss him!!

hmmm is it 3 years, dam time flies, I bought one of his unstarted kits from Deans Marine and itīs still unstarted sorry to say  :((

I have had, within this year, the unpleasant experience of saying goodbye to 2 of my high posting members of the Danish modelboat site skalamodelskibe.dk they will be missed as Dicky D will be.

Can only say live today as you may not be here tomorrow.

The Best

Richard was most certainly a character and often managed to upset some people; he even managed to get himself banned from the forum on more than one occasion. However, he was very knowledgeable and always ready to help anyone who asked. I used to communicate with him regularly, and still miss his emails, which often contained a joke or several. He suffered from bad health for some time before finally succumbing to his illness three years ago. I miss him too, Barry.

Dicky could be cantankerous occasionally but he was a very enthiastic mayhemmer and is sorely missed. The time has flown by.  Perky

Used to go and see Dicky with Bob Blease, always impressed with how he managed to make his models in his final year despite his debilitating illness also went with Bob to his funeral. Always like him and hope if there is a place he is busy making model boats for a higher power.  R.I.P.

Dicky D and myself had a lovely love hate relationship and it really used to drive the moderators absolutely mad as if he wasn't banned than I was .....Biggest joke was we ALWAYS kissed and made up by email and to be perfectly honest with you all we were the best of friends behind the scenes ...It really was a sad day when Richard left us and such a loss to this forum...in one way we could say thank goodness there was only one DickyD....there is one thing that is a fact NO ONE will ever replace him.....
