For all friends out there.
« on: December 23, 2015, 06:28:33 pm »

just a thought for you all.

I was told today by a friend of mine, ( Neil) that an old friend of his who used to run the Model shop at Southport, passed away in October from terminal cancer. He was called Terry Donn, and some on here might well  have known him, so Neil says.

Sadly Neil was told by Terry two summers ago that he had this disease and whilst Neil and his family were on holiday in Scotland Terry was moving.

Sadly whilst he was on holiday he lost Terry's new contact details, and even though he went on numerous occasions to Southport to the police station and the Council offices pestering them to see if they could trace Terry's new address, they refused because of Data protection to divulge any information.

This morning he received a phone call from Terry's wife to say that he had passed away.

So the moral is, you might not hear from friends for a while, but it doesn't mean that they are not thinking of you or in some circumstances needing your company.

Neil is distraught that he didn't see Terry before he passed away as he feels he let him down.

Don't let your friends pass into the past. Keep in touch, and he asked me to pass on the following message to those friends on here that he used to talk with and too  those on here that he hasn't heard from in a while.

Take care this Christmas.

Some thoughts as we enter the holiday season. It is important to remember that not everyone is looking forward to Christmas. Some people are not surrounded by large wonderful families. Some of us have problems during the holidays and are overcome with great sadness when we remember the loved ones who are not with us. For many it is their first Christmas without a particular loved one and many others lost loved ones at Christmas. And, many people have no one to spend these times with and are besieged by loneliness. We all need caring, loving thoughts right now. If I don't see your name, I'll understand. May I ask my friends wherever you might be, to kindly post this status for one hour to give a moment of support to all those who have family problems, health struggles, job issues, worries of any kind and just need to know that someone cares. Do it for all of us, for nobody is immune. I hope to see this on the walls of all my friends just for moral support. I did it for a friend and you can too!

Neil, Via me.

Jim. Merry Christmas to you all.

And merry Christmas to you as well Jim. Feel heartened that Neil did make a good effort to try and re connect with his friend.

I think cancer is almost epidemic these days, as I reckon we all know someone who has had it or has sadly passed away from it.

I can think of fifteen family, friends and acquaintences who have had it in one form or another:O(

it is a horrible disease.

Our circuit Minister at surrounding Methodist Churches near Cromer died from Breast Cancer some ten years ago.

Had doctors been aware that MEN  suffer almost as often as females from Breast Cancer then he might have had a chance of recovery, but successive doctors and consultants didn't even entertain that he could have been suffering from a "lady's" disease until it was far too late, sadly.

Yes, and specialists from different departments can argue over issues that waste time when there isn't enough.

A work neighbour of mine had rhumatism and was put on immuno-suppressive mediction. Soon after he started getting growths and tumours, one of which was in his brain. This was treated. His Oncologist then informed his osteologist that it was probably the medication inhibiting his immune system from killing the every day cancers, but the Osteologist dissagreed.

He was finally informed that the cause was most likely the rhumatism treatment, but in the mean, time my friend got several tumours that had to be surgically removed including one in his lung, before finally getting another brain tumour that was inoperable. While he was still compus mentus, he spent lots of time with his little Grandson and had to end his carpentary business. He was a keen motorcyclist and a very accomplished carpenter but passed away in 2010.

Sadly, several of his friends turned up in the following months to be told that he had passed.

there is something inherently and systematically wrong in the way doctors and consultants in this country treat suspected cancer patients.

If eastern block countries such as the one that the parents of the little boy took him too for successful treatment can do it, then this country should be able to do so.................or is it petty beurocracy and posturing egotists that are to blame for none and wrongful diagnosis here in the UK.
