soaps

No idea but this has twenty eight

In a similar vein, Martin Gardener offered the example: "Wouldn't the sentence 'I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign' have been clearer if quotation marks had been placed before Fish, and between Fish and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and Chips, as well as after Chips?"

That's left me a bit discombooberated (Yes I know)  ;D

Ok, you win- my example would have been similar, but can't get near your total!

You've spelt "veryh" wrong - sorry - incorrectly.  %)

Well, at least you read it all!   ;D

Reminds me of the time an old lady went into her local library with her grandchild to whom she had been reading a long story from a borrowed children's book. She told the  librarian, in no uncertain terms that - 'This book is unfit for children to read' - 'Why', asked the librarian, and the old lady replied, 'There is a spelling mistake on page 95!!'

About 15 years ago, I went into a major booksellers and they had books on sale for going back to school.
I bought a dictionary. A Webster's dictionary. This was an American English dictionary sold in a UK booksellers for British kids going back to school.

I used to work with a guy who had a large shelf of reference books above his desk. Prominent amongst the books was a very ornate volume, obviously hand-bound with the title running down the spine.
It was titled 'DICKSHUNAIRY'  True!  O0

Upon opening the book you would have found it contained a bottle of Johny Walker  %) %) %)

Many a true word said in jest. It might well have had a flask in it. :-))

Hi all I have been missing for a few days.  I have been "holidaying".  New Year and all that.

I have heard it said that those who follow the TV soaps are wanting to belong to a larger family and group, which is, I suppose, back in the day!  (New expression for me).  This says a lot about our own society fragmented with no family home provision for older members.  We all became more independent including me, and I am way beyond retirement age.

I agree with the comment that the TV soap characters are paper thin with no hobbies, not even a shed to vanish into!  Just look in almost every garden and there is a shed!  Maybe there are not so many gardens though, I would have thought Emmerdale might have a few.

I recall recently picking up a book and reading the jacket cover synopsis of the story and was intrigued by the use of the word 'bazaar'  as it did not seem to fit with the plot.  Turned out it should have been the other spelling that Claris Clift made popular.
Personally I am an Audio book fan, played whilst 'working' in my shed.

glad to be back.
