Why are threads being split up and locked without explanation ?
« on: January 03, 2016, 05:59:05 pm »

So I join in the topic " Correct use of the English Language " with an on-topic post .....   http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,53334.msg551449.html#msg551449.

It attracted a few on-topic answers and now suddenly  the above post has been used to start a new Topic titled "soaps".......  http://www.modelboatmayhem.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,53526.0.html

None of my posts had anything to do with "soaps"; I did not ask for it to be moved and I have not been told why it was moderated.

Oh and both Topics have been locked.

What warranted such actions ?  After all the was no flame war going on.

It's a conspiracy.

This forum is actually run by giant, shape-shifting lizards from the far reaches of the universe who all belong to exclusive London gentlemen's clubs, wear Hawaiian shirts and eat human flesh on toast on Fridays. They now have your URL as well as your date of birth, address, NI number and the location of your every living relative.

If I were you I'd climb into my escape pod before it's too late...

The Moderators' decisions are final - in all conceivable ways   :o

A simple explanation.
I am to blame, possibly assisted by the GFW.

When doing maintenance to threads, it is usual to lock topics for a short time. This is to prevent postings to a thread until finished. They are then unlocked.

Last night (China time) I was doing such maintenance to split out and tidy up posts in the wrong thread, and put them in the correct thread. This is a multi stage process.
When splitting out the posts my browser had a glitch, spooled to the top, and split out the whole page.

I could not fix the problem (further tech problems, perhaps caused by the GFW) and notified Martin, leaving the topics locked to prevent further entries.
All will be fixed in a short time.

Please be patient. Sorry for the inconvenience.

:D....& TT says... "possibly assisted by the GFW"......well that may be OK for you <*<, but what is the GFW?

Google provided 3,270 answers in 0.87 of a second  O0

Global Force Wrestling?
Great Fire Wall?
Games for Windows?
Global Forest Watch?

I am bewildered at what the other 3,266 answers may be............ Derek

It's not a problem, but I prefer Inertia's explanation.  :-))

Kinmel,

As a relatively new kid on the block, it takes a little time to convert you, into a Dinky Di Mayhemmer.

Nevertheless, always remember, "That the truth will set you free" and that  this forum is named Model Boat Mayhem, for a reason.  O0 O0 O0

At the end of the day, I should thank all the Moderators for donating their valuable time and knowledge to make Mayhem such a great forum.

I now realise that mayhem is not just a name, it is a way of life and the threads should just be left as they are now.
