Hello, thanks to all for the compliments. My work comes from that of UMI, JP cat and other friends who have already made a sdm tug

Hello, I received the new radio, a taranis X9E, with whom I made the programming of the rotation of shottels. I spent a couple of evenings to the PC, using the management program sw radio, to understand how best to set the rotary controls already installed and the response of the servants. With patience I got a satisfactory result. From the perspective of "hardware", I had to replace the propeller of SCHOTTEL right, as both the SCHOTTEL had the right-handed helix (which is why the package was a spare propeller-clockwise). Without the amendment I put the model in the bathtub and I immediately noticed the difference in driving and maneuvering. With the two right-handed helices model tended to veer even with SCHOTTEL in 0 ° position. Bringing Shottel position + 90 °, the model moves but obliquely. With counter-rotating propellers left / right the problem seems solved. I can not wait to try the model in "open field" (pool of a residence near home) to fully understand the ability to maneuver.
Returning to the speech radio: I realized that the knobs of the potentiometers are a little uncomfortable, so I went in the electronics store near home and I bought a pair of knobs 25 mm diameter aluminum that are used in the DJ console. Unfortunately the hole for attachment to the pin of the potentiometer is slightly larger (6 mm against 4.5 mm of the pot) and the corn is too high and not good greenhouse on the pin. Therefore I decided to leave the original knobs and fix on these new ones, having widened the hole to make them fit on the original knobs.

Hello everyone.
Solved the unknowns of operation and maneuvering of the model, I dove in the realization of the accessories, not less important and interesting of the propulsion system.
I assembled rails using stanchions photo engraved "Made in Germany" and soldering tin handrail and lower currents.

Hello to all

These are the stages of the construction of two connector for towing. I've made using the brass rod and brass tubes and copper. All soldered with the torch

Finally I made the condensing units of air conditioning serving wheelhouse and cabins of Salvador Dali
They are made with two layers of MDF glued together and coated with the plasticard 0.5 mm.

Hello to all

I mounted the smokestacks using the usual templates self-adhesive vinyl. with an aluminum tube I simulated flue chimney

I started the construction of the pipeline to fight fire

Hello to all
To achieve proceed as for my smit nederland. In practice I have realized the jigs adhesive vinyl that I applied to a sheet of Plexiglas from 2 mm thick. With tunnel and bench grinder I finished the edges of the windows following the profile of the dime.
Not to confuse with the various windows, I used vinyl film of various colors.

I decided to apply a strip of 0.3 mm plastic card all around the slide of Plexiglas. I trimmed the opening in the wall and entered the wheelhouse glass plexy with all piping plasticard. The end result seems to be quite truthful.
Tonight I carry with me the camera and snap some pictures of what I have said.
Just for the record, unlike the smit nederland, all windows and openings in the wheelhouse are hand-cut: no laser cutting. Great satisfaction in realizing them but with an enormous amount of time and especially of "praise" to the Creator

This is the appearance of Salvador Dali in full scale  :-))

Alimurimeta, I like your model engineering, the manifold for the fire monitors and the hawser fairleads (sic?) are lovely pieces in their own right.

Keep up the god work :-))

By the way, your transmitter looks very high tech and I can see the knobs being a bit uncomfortable.

HELLO ballastanksian

I assure you that the knobs mounted potentiometers make it more intuitive maneuver of schottels. With the use of the curves of setting of the input and the response of the servos, the pods can be rotated by 180 ° to the side. The servos are mounted digital one with maximum rotation of +/- 90 °, I mechanically amplified with the gears.

Hello everyone, I ask friends who have already built the Salvador Dali, which is the RAL color code of the hull above the waterline?
Waiting for your feedback greetings

I believe JPcat, in Japan, used a Tamiya orange spray paint.
However, it was not very tolernent of UV in the sunlight and faded quickly.

Thanks Umi, I found a color chart R.A.L. and it seems that the most suitable color is red orange R.A.L. 2002. I go to the paint shop and I do a test sample.

Hello
Your tug looks great. Some thing I found . The hi ziz orange around the top of the wheel house. On my ferry it to has the same . I tryed Humbrol orange hi ziz ,what a disappointment, the paint was crap and so poor in pigment. I found a hi ziz paint made for bikes sold by Halfords had good coverage but in the end I use vinal

Hello everyone,
thanks john, I tried the red orange - R.A.L. 2002. It seems very similar to the real. For painting  the top of the wheelhouse, I will use the same color tried with the fairmount alpine (R.A.L. 2004).   These are colors for body car painting , made on request and inserted in spray guns 400 ml.

Hello everyone, I also resumed construction of my dali salvador

I performed the hull painting and some elements of the deckhouse

I had a small problem with the paint. Orange reacted in places with white humbrol, although they are compatible (already experienced in the past):?:

I had to sand down and repaint in orange;)

Cheers and Enjoy

Hello, here are the pictures of steering finally liberated by several layers of masking paper. They are evident some small smudge of paint, which will remove later.

I can be quite pleased with the end result, which seems unlikely, or not? : D

Hello to all, tanks UMI.
Returning to the sensors speech, I mounted: 2 current sensors (one for each motor); 2 engines of temperature probes; 1 of the battery voltage sensor (short ride on the second). Everything seems to work properly. :or
Thanks to the wide range of radio programming, I set two special functions that can be activated by a switch on the remote control to perform the stationary rotation and gear behind automatically;);)

Here are the photos of the "offals" Salvador Dali: D: D: D

Hi everyone, here is the result of the experiment to achieve a ceiling light "neon".
I decided to use "heavy artillery" or micrometer drill to practice the slots that form the inside of the ceiling. To obtain more or less the same shape of the ceiling, I realized silhouettes of vinyl (blue film) that I applied on a PVC strip 2.8 mm thick. The ceiling of the milled slots (3 mm diameter), I cut with a band saw and finished with disc sander. I have practiced a lateral hole for the passage of wires that power the LED (1.2 mm). Always with the usual dime vinyl I clipped from plexyglas sp. 1 mm transparent caps of the last plafoniera.Per I applied strips of plasticard from 0.3 mm to simulate the attachment clips of the transparent cover to the fixture body.

I am evaluating the possibility of producing a silicone rubber mold to reproduce the ceiling in series also for other models (scale 1: 40-1: 50) ;)

ello everyone. I realized the pylons that function for the automatic release of the liferafts. I have them made with plasticard and copper wire. The self-inflating I made them with the rod and beech strips plasticard and copper wire.

This is the real

Hello, I started the design and construction of the service crane for handling the tender. I do not have a picture of this crane. The only thing that I could find were a couple of pictures with two different perspectives of shooting. With the help of the computer I traced the lines with the profiles of the crane on the pictures and I managed more or less to obtain the shape and the size of the crane. At this point I climbed the design to make it consistent with the scale of the model. I exploded all the pieces of the crane, "taking it apart" piece by piece with CAD.

Got the design of the parts of the crane, I started the actual construction. I have depleted all the tools I possess (not essential, but certainly useful loooong time-saving)

Hello everyone. I have prepared the doors and related frames that are located in the inner part of the deckhouse, winch side. I realized the closing leaflets watertight with the copper wire soldered

I assembled the access ladder to the wheelhouse roof, using plasticard and copper rods from 0.5 mm diameter

I Turned some of the mooring winch accessories

That's enough for now, greetings and good fun
