Hi everyone

Disappeared for a while but Dreadnought wasn't forgotten, whilst not complete like I had hoped she is approximately 85% done so she will look like a WW1 battleship for the Jutland display. Pictures will hopefully be coming Friday and if not look out for her over the weekend.

I don't know if the motor shown in the pinnace photo is intended to power that model...

If so, it's a bit big. A better match is a 'pager' motor, so called because they drive the vibrate function in mobile phones. One source of these is Infra-red toy helicopters, where the single cell Lipo can also be pressed into model boat service. The main rotor drive, normally a 4mm dia type, is a bit strong for a tiny boat but the tail rotor drive, normally 3mm dia, is about right.

It was supporting the top heavy steam pinnace as it was the closest item to hand!

Thanks for the info, might use that in the Protector project.

Those 12pounder kits are nice. I assembled mine recently and it goes together pretty well.

You learn something new every day as I was trying to work out whetre the extra 12pounders went and wondered if they were behind armour.

Lovely work Nick, it was good to see her the other weekend.

Right, who is ready for some pictures of the almost complete HMS Dreadnought 1916? O0

Some of you may have seen her on the WPMBC stand at Warwick sitting next to her bigger sibling HMS Agincourt, not very much left to complete- just some minor rigging, some hand rails, a few bits of detailing on the bridges, and the addition of splinter matting over the canvas matting. Any way enjoy the pictures so far...

Well now, that was a nice surprise seeing your work so near completion. I hope to see her next year at Wicksteed.

Thanks Ian, I've got an idea for another WW1 project using hacking and bashing methods on a GRP hull. Watch this space for another strange way of building a model boat! :-))

Many thanks Spooksgone.
Some more picture will be uploaded today with the ship's boat in place. They were left off to allow access for drilling and gluing the funnel support rigging.
