Hello everyone
« on: January 10, 2016, 01:45:12 pm »

Would just like to start off by saying thank you for having me and also hello to everybody. I am currently taking my first foray in to model boat building with a Fairy Swordsman and after finding the excellent guide by bluebird i thought this would be a good site to join.

Hello!
I'm amazed to think that it's now 17 years since this plan was first published and people are still building from it. It must be Bluebird's build!
When you've done this one there's a similar-sized 'Huntsman 31' in the MyHobbyStore plans range, although you 'll have to fork out some pennies to buy the plans this time. Let us know how you get on, please. There can never be enough Faireys in the world!

The look and style of the boat just really appealed to me if im honest, i love old 60s speed boats and cabin cruisers. After a bit of research and the fact it was recommended for beginners it was a sure winner in my book. And if there was one thing i took away from RC cars was that you can never have just one.  :-)

Dave.
A question that has puzzled me for many years.

Could you or anyone else please tell me whether the boats in the closing sequences to From Russia With Love, the 007 film were Faireys or not, and if so what boat where they.

Thank you.

Jim.

They were indeed. Check out this link, especially the third and fourth paragraphs.

Thank you Dave.

As a youth watching the film I always thought they were absolutely beautiful boats with stunning looks.

Does anyone manufacture a kit for the Huntress?

Portsmouth Dockyard Boathouse 4 has a lovely Huntress on display.
