Half-hard brass wire
« on: January 13, 2016, 06:22:57 pm »

I need to buy some half-hard brass wire in diameters from 0.8mm to 1.5mm.  Am I right in assuming that it should straighten alright by the time-honoured technique of clamping one end in the vice, grabbing t'other with a pair of pliers then heaving on it?

Put one end in a vice and the other in an electric drill, pull and give it a tiny burst and it will be nice and straight.

I tension it with vice and pliers and waft a blowlamp along it length qucikly. This helps straighten it and softens it a little making tight bends much much easier to achieve. Check out the last few posts, last page  on my anchor handler build - link in signature line.
