Occupied on Sky Arts
« on: January 16, 2016, 10:24:24 am »

Anyone else watched this new series on Sky arts  called Occupied. Its well worth a look. As said in the Telegraph what it lacked in credibility  it made up for in originality.Apparantly The Russians were  a bit peeved about it

Agreed, It's only a TV drama.  Did they make a fuss over the likes of 'Red Oktober'? As the Yanks would reply - ya-boo-sucks!  O0

But Red October was also fiction albeit based on an  actual surface vessel incident. Anyway in this  Drama the Yanks are no longer in Nato imagine that scenario ok2

I am not sure if I read it on here first.

Slightly different topic.
A very good end of Cold War drama series on Channel 4, I think, is Deutschland 83. Set in E and W Germany in 1983. With subtitles.

But have to say that the far north of Europe and Scandinavia are producing some good drama.

I enjoyed a recent series on Amazon based on the book, The Man in the High Castle. If you don't know it, it's a story based in an alternative 1962 after a very different WW2 which lasted from 1939 to 1948 resulting in the Allies loosing the war. A group of young Americans find some footage of the Allies winning the war... Apart from the Sci-fi element its a very good rendition of what life would have been like living under Nazi and Imperial Japan occupation.

Yes Tiger Deutschland  83 not long started here. Can never understand why no or few  documentaries seem to be made about the  actual Iron curtain. Most in Blighty thought it ran through Berlin.
Also when we did a border patrol on it in the 60's  It was Navy Officers administrating
