 leprachurn

Mythical creature frequently found on Irish dairy farms.
Mostly visible about 11.00 pm on Saturday nights.
Resides in the bottom of large milk containers and lives on EU subsidies.

Not to be confused with the lepraCORN which resides on arable farms.

If they spent 4minutes 28 seconds doing a real inflight safety I'd be well asleep.

Have you noticed that on boarding a flight, almost no-one pays any attention to the safety demo instructions, or bothers to read the flight safety card.  I always do both, not through any fear of flying but I like to know where my nearest exit etc is just in case. Only problem is that I haver never been able to locate where under the seat the life jacket is supposed to be stowed.  Once you are seated it is too late to try and grope for it.

Maybe if safety demos were this interesting more might take note.

Bob we always ensure we have seats at the rear or over the wings. But then we always fly budget, be it ryanair, monarch, jet2, easyjet. So it is easy to book those seats, making sure that not only are we adjacent to an exit but we get extra leg room as well :} Best one we have ever had was JetXtra, they are just a seat seller and subcontract to B.A, lovely planes and only 74 seater aircraft, ALicante-Spain to Humberside - UK pay a lot extra but well worth it to be virtually on the doorstep at both ends, unfortunately they only fly across the two week xmas holiday and May to September periods - saturday only flights.

I'm typically flying anywhere between 2-7 times a month & am pretty word perfect at the safety demo which is the same irrespective of who you fly with. A quick note if it is a strange aircraft of where the exits are & I'm done.
More irritating is why people take so long to board, put their carry-on in the overhead or where ever & sit down.

Or the ones that are constantly up and down like yoyos taking stuff out and putting it back.

Many aircraft can look the same but still have significant differences in detail of safety equipment. Never assume if it looks familiar.  A bit like getting into a hire car, making sure you know where reverse and the petrol cap release etc are before driving off.

PS:  When flying to Belfast on Eastyjet my wife and I always book seats 1A and 1B. Right by the exit and loads of legroom.

No way, a seat belt has worked the same since the late 50's, the fire exits are marked. I can now use electronics whilst taxying, no smoking, seat belt warnings. Nope pretty much identical.

Sad.  Really proves my original point. Most people ignore the safety information, which does vary in life-critical details from one aircraft type to another. How does your nearest exit open (in smoke filled conditions), if over wing does it push out or pull in. Are there aisleway lights, are they steady or do they flash towards your nearest exit.  Exactly where IS your life jacket.  In a true emergency 50% go for their hand luggage first.

Do many other folk actually check to see if there is a life jacket under their seat?

I've been told to sit in the (more legroom) exit seats before by flight attendants. Presumably because I look like the sort of person who'd shove fleeing passengers down the escape chutes if they were appearing to have second thoughts.  %)

I think that the best one was issued just after the All Blacks beat the Aussies in the 2015 Rugby World Cup (see http://www.slashfilm.com/men-in-black-airline-safety-video/), this featured Rip Torn as Zed and Frank the Pug.
