This is getting scary. Less than 3 weeks in and we've lost Lemmie, David B, Alan Rickman and now the Big Eagle.
Chunks of my life are being torn away. Whoever you are, please stop it.
I'm sure there's an Eagles song which is 100% appropriate, but right now I'm going to go to bed and weep a little for Glenn Frey.

We also lost Dale Griffin yesterday, drummer with Mott the Hoople (forwhom Bowie wrote 'All the Young Dudes').

Death's putting the band together, folks!

What is really scary is that all these famous musical artists lost were younger than I am.

RIP Glenn Frey, also wrote the theme tune to that 80's tv series Miami Vice. A great musician and a sad loss, another rock legend of my youth leaves us much the poorer.

We also lost one of the UK's best ever jazz organists a week or two ago, Alan Haven. Not everyone's cup of tea, but oh boy could he play. And on the occasions I met him, he came across as a really nice guy.

That 'Great Gig in the Sky' is going to be a belter.

The Eagles wrote the theme music for Hitch hikers guide to the universe as well so Frey had a hand in quite a few iconic pieces of music. I saw the Eagles perform twice.

Our Poets and Musicians and Philosophers (modern and ancient alike) shape our mental vistas and how we think about life and love. No small wonder we feel their loss so sharply.

I'm going to have me a black vinyl and Brandy weekend, scratches and all  O0

Apologies  :embarrassed: ....must be some rather sick people out there to do this.... Derek

There's an interesting article on the Beeb's website about this "Dead Again" phenomenon. They're not sick, they're just not paying attention properly....  http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/blogs-trending-35363394

Yes, I very nearly got caught by the e-re-reporting of Leslie Nielsen's passing 5 years ago.  It seems that there is an automated thingy looking at stories held on news sites, and inserting them into "most popular" lists.  It says a lot for the enduring popularity of Leslie "Don't call me Shirley" Nielsen that mentioning him can start a snowball rolling.

The "Finnish Baby Box" is still available to new mums to this day (a cash alternative is available but is rarely taken) However babies rarely sleep in the box now, the box is normally used to keep the childs mementoes in

So ......'when did it happen then, Derek?'  DM.....8)

Well it really depends on the understanding of the English language I suppose 8)....sometime like driving a car ....one day forward, then the next day a few kilometre's backwards

So I am suggesting  'this then will certainly apply to me'.... as a forward action...certainly not today or tomorrow as we have a family of Warners booked for our Australia Day weekend & I am 2nd Chef  {-)...I'll post the listing of a few names ..... Derek
