Advice please - Turnigy Transmitters
« on: January 24, 2016, 01:00:18 pm »

I am considering buying a new 2.4Ghz radio system. Looking at the Turnigy TGY i6 and the Turnigy 6X6 they seem very similar in specs. - receivers for the latter are slightly cheaper than the i6, but otherwise they seem to offer similar facilities.
I rarely use more than 3 channels, but the model memories are what attract me, as all my models seem to need different servo set ups. %)  Receiver size could be an issue as I do like to build small models :-))
Any advice or other suggestions? I do have Spektrum Dx5e equipment at the moment with Orange and Lemon Rxs as well as some very small Rxs.

What about the Orange version of the DX6I ?
All your receivers would work and you would have
10 model memories.
A lot cheaper I would think than changing all the receivers.

Its a possibility, although I wasn't necessarily intending to totally replace the Spektrum, but I am having lots of problems with receivers, particularly Orange, becoming unbound from the TX.

My orange rxs are a couple of years or more old.
I don't seem to have any problems using them in
yachts. Having said that,a short brown out when
a yacht is in the distance would hardly be noticeable.

No - Not very recently it happens with DSM2 and DSMx versions. It also happens with some of my miniature RXs - no name types %)

Ned

Its not brownouts in use. Its when I come to use it. I can check everything is OK ready for sailing next day, and when I get to the lake the Rx isn't bound.

I've got an I6, and I find it to be really good for the price. The user interface can be a bit annoying at times (long press cancel to save?!) but never had any problems with it

I run about eight orange RX's from Spektrum- zero problems. I think some of the earlier orange rx's were a bit flaky, but the later generation (within the last two or three years) seem to be fine.

I wouldn't be very happy if they were trouble, as I use a couple in aeroplanes.

I've read the lemon rx's are better still(so not living up to their namesake), and they're competitively priced too on ebay.

:-)) Tunigy are quite good for the price,I have two 9x's and now have the i10,I have used the 9x for a couple for years withour any problems, the quality of the i10 is equal to any on the market and the i6 is the same, these are two way systems with sensors that feed back to the tx so you get rx battery voltage, motor battery voltage, temp of battery and revs of motor which is very handy, the 9x rx will work on the i10 tx but you dont get any sensors.

Yes -  I've had no problems with mine. I've had one for a while now and have bought two more - nice and small, smaller than the R615.

I did think I had tracked the problem to a Dx5e transmitter with DSMx, but just yesterday the other older DSM2 only Tx  and an Orange Rx became unbound.

I've only had problems with Orange R610 and R515 receivers and also these which I use quite a bit in small models. I am now switching to Lemon when I need small. Will probably buy one of the Turnigy sets for " full size" receivers. So there will be one DX5e Tx and a number of Rxs appearing on the For Sale board %% %% %%

Hi
I have had a Turnigy IA-6 for a few years and had no problems.
The Version2 receivers are a bit dearer with telemetry(but you only require one for setup your boat for prop setup).
The version 2 supports telemetry for revs/temperature and voltage, which would be good for motor load with different props.
The HK-6A V2 is rubbish and cheap, requires windows XP (ONLY)to set up.
