Just easing my leg over the taffrail.
« on: January 24, 2016, 09:42:00 pm »

I must confess to being a model ship builder of considerable senescence. Over the years I have built static models , my last being a Navy Board style US Confederacy, plank on frame in boxwood using the Lumberyard timbering set. I now feel the urge to build a boat that you can more than just look at when it is finished so am embarking on a Topaz victorian launch. I know my problems will deepen when I have to decide on the running gear as I am not familiar with live steam and will be calling for your advice . I am at present reading up the Topaz threads which a forum search has come up with. This is going to be a long build, I do everything slowly these days.

 regards to you all.  Balders.

Welcome aboard. :-))

Would love to see pics of the Navy Board model.

There are also a number of steam enthusiasts on here, and already a useful board on steam and steam R&D. I think you will get plenty of support and advice if and when you need it.

Thanks for the welcome.  The attached image is taken about half way through the Confederacy build, you will note the hull is still attached to the building board. The photograph is attached upside down to show boat the right way up.  If members are interested I will start a build log of the progress photographs in the relevant forum section.
