1:20th scale Elco PT boat
« on: January 25, 2016, 10:57:19 pm »

Hi all
After lots of thought I have decided to go brushless, I am currently running Action Electronics P94 multi function for the outer 2 Graupner Speed 600 eco motors and a p80 speed controller running the centre motor, the 600s are driving  35 mm 3 blade props.
It goes ok, but I think just a bit more grunt and a better run time out of the 2s lipo I am currently using. I have done a bit of research and seem to have confused myself in regards to motors and speed controllers. any suggestions would be fantastic.
I also am wanting to get a P100 noisy thing from Dave, so I will need to find out if will work with the brushless speed controllers, I cant see why it wont.
Here is a video of its latest run https://youtu.be/l7pg-2ySs2g

cheers
Andrew

Hi
Brushless motors 35mm 3639-750kv 600watts 5mm shaft on 60 amp ESC's with 5800mah 3S Lipo batteries.
Shaft speed 8325 rpm and use the same props.
Run time 1/2 to 1 hour depending on usage.
The sister motor the 3639-1100kv 800watts is the same fix, but, a bit beastly for the scale speed.
A throttle/rudder mixer would make the turning circle better.
They use to throttle the inner motor down to improve the turn circle on the PT boats!!!!
We use the Hobbyking 60Amp car ESC with the programming card.

Hi Andrew,

On my 1/16 scale Whaleback 47" length I use  a Turnigy 1348 1450kva outrunner on a 3 cell lipo.

Prop is 40mm by 3 blade brass.

Esc is Hobby King brushless car esc HK-60A with reverse no setup required if you wish.

Boat planes easily with part throttle more than enough power running on centre shaft with flank props freewheeling.

Hi
Was that a 1348-1450kv  or 3648-1450kv.
I think two of these in a PT Boat at 1600watts each would be an over kill.
One dam fast boat, pasting the torpedo's sir, may I please throttle back!!
I have one in a 36 deep vee and it run about 40mph.

Hi my mistake should read 3648-1450kva.

My centre shaft only is powered flank shafts are freewheeling.
