Pegasus - Ventouris Ferries
« on: January 03, 2016, 09:47:33 am »

The last months I am running a new project. The ship is the ex. Espresso Venezia in her greek version.
I change a little bit the materials from Venus, using now 4mm plywood for the frames, and 2mm Balsa strips.
After finishing the surface I will apply one fiberglass 80r/m2. I hope it will be ok.

Here are some frames and the deck parts

Finishing all the side parts, bow and stern, apply some soft putty and then sanding, sanding, sanding..

This is looking good so far, I think you have the makings of a superb ship.

It is not a very easy hull. Lot of angles and curves. I hope she will look like the real one at the end

Wow, how did you make the bulb for the bow, is it all soft putty?

No it is complete from balsa. I cut some frames from plywood for lines reference, then fill the gaps with balsa and sanding until it looks ok. Off course it needs some "fine sanding" but not at this stage.

Did the balsa bend and form easily to the frames or did you soak the strips first?

Excellent build so far!

Can't have too many ferries I say. Must be nice to have your warm weather to sail in.

Yes very easily. It is only 2mm sheet. I cut some strips for the difficult parts.

Next steps

Hand over the hull to my good friend who is epoxy expert. After applying 80gr fiberglass he start covering the hull with fine epoxy putty.

Below some progress
