It does confuse the brain into thinking "model". Look up "tilt-shift photography" to see the optical side of it. The speeded-up stop/go side is well known. There is an American chap who does table-top scenes outside mixing real street scenes and model cars that uses the very opposite technique to create convincing still photographs.
