Hi Arno,
It's been a long time since you last posted. But your craftsmanship is always awesome and elaborate to see in any parts of the boat as if I were having some kind of impression of a Swiss-made watch or a Karl-Zwiss binoculars.!!! O0 {-) :-))
Please keep on posting of your museum level of works for the time to come.!! :-))

Very many thanks for your nice comments, Kiyo, it means a lot to me!

Today I have sprayed and completed the sea catch mechanism. I have used Alclad paint (steel). Small parts can be sprayed in my workshop but the wheelhouse is still on hold. We even had some snow showers over here today!

Having done the paint job over the last two weeks I now have finished the front hatch and fixed more than 100 dummy bolts on the roof. The bolts are not threaded (bought from Knupfer in Germany) and were fixed with super glue.

The anti slip area was replicated using Halfords textured paint on Tamiya pla paper 0.1 mm.

The only way of distinguishing  :o  the first image is a model, is by the plastic packet of fasteners with the blue Knupfer label attached

Excellent detail  :-))

I have restarted the build after a longer pause as life came in the way. Last not least I have visited Kim and Alan (17-09) for the first time since Covid which felt so good after such a long time.

The engine room slide vent is scratch built from plasticard. I used Revell acrylic spray chrome paint which gives a very realistic effect. It takes quite a long time to cure though: after several days a finger nail will still leave a trace, but after several weeks it is so hard, that even the finger nail scratch does not do any harm to the surface. The mesh was bought from a company that sells materials for architects. The white stuff behind the mesh is cut from a filter of a cooker hood.

Well Arno,
Firstly, it was so good to see you both over here in Kent this summer and that we were able to spend so much time together, going to various different events and getting your support for the concert that I was singing in at Canterbury Cathedral with the Canterbury Choral Society. The after event supper at my place was a good time too and that you found the right toaster in Germany so you can now make toasted sandwiches with the same machine and pattern!! They were good days with many happy memories. Long may this continue.
Here on the Shannon build you continue to excite us all with your excellent skills and build....the detail and precision is amazing. For me the best Shannon build I have witnessed anywhere. It will look great on the water and I feel that will not be too far in the future.
Keep up the good work and it was great to hear from you again today, especially that you have looked at the website where I am now exhibiting my painting on 1/9th scale figure busts. Maybe I'll post a few shots here, so folk can see that I am still able to do some modelling!
Regards to you and all those that visit this Shannon build site here.

Arno, my 'marine bro',
What incredible progress and detail is shown in the latest batch of build photos here! The appreciation and praise expressed by fellow modellers is well deserved! You have made the best upper steering screen and frame that I have seen anywhere, and likewise on the detail all around this wonderful wheelhouse.....it shows what levels of detail can be obtained. Many thanks bro' for keeping fellow modellers' attention on this scale build of a great lifeboat [Shannon].
If the two 'Phils are reading this, I will try and get a PM off to each during the coming week, so thanks for your thoughts.
Arno, my personal weekly email is just about to be sent to 'home'.......Tschuss and thanks for your help here!

Many thanks for your appreciation, it really means a lot to me!

Kim, I never would have reached this stage without you. When I started the build I did not have a lathe or mill. It was mainly you who pointed me into those directions of new machines and skills and I am so thankful for that!

The hull has got a first layer of etch primer now and hopefully the paint job will start soon, weather permitting.

I have painted the hull and now am installing the jet drive linkages. The steering nozzles are complete and I am waiting for some M 1.6 nuts for the trim tabs.

Then the deck will follow….

Arno,
This model build just keeps on 'giving'! The hull is progressing well and I think you will be having great fun with this on your Club's pond next Spring!! You'll have to build a scale RNLI jetty [floating] to moor alongside! Sorry, just when you thought you were coming to a conclusion....another 'small' challenge {-) !!
We must have another WhatsApp video call sometime bro'. An email is just about to be written to catch up on recent emails...cheers.
